Further Information
Lapland is not actually a country
in itself, but is in fact made up of regions in Northern Finland,
Sweden and Norway, above the Arctic Circle. Lapland
is traditionally the home of nomadic reindeer herders and of course
Lapland's most famous resident - Santa Claus!
Lapland only has an average of 5 hours of daylight a day in December,
known as "grey light" - this is generally between 10am
and 3pm - the rest of the time is like night time. You might find
it useful to pack a torch!
Temperatures can vary from fairly warm days just above freezing,
to -40C at night! The cold, however, tends to be crisp and clean,
not damp, as you would generally find in the UK.
